China Repair to a Royal Doulton Figurine
called Penelope.
A client emailed me after
seeing this on Ebay suggesting in jest that I should buy and repair
it, so I decided to do this as it would be a good example of what
can be achieved with Restoration.
She is a Royal Doulton figurine
called Penelope and as you can see had no head.

The first thing to
do after cleaning it was to acquire a perfect example in order to
take a mould of the correct head.

The head was made with Dental Restorative in order
to give the hardest finish and even make it sound like china when
tapped.
The head was adhered to the body using Fynebond
and additional sculpturing done to the joins, the whole head was
then painted with a white glaze ready for painting.

The basic painting to get the flesh colour and ribbon was first.

The hair and face
were hand painted to match the undamaged one I had, and finally the
figure was glazed and polished to match the rest of the body.
